Your first drawing assignment is to produce drawings of three subjects: an object, a room interior and a building exterior. These drawings will help to give me a sense of your current skills, and they will provide both of us with a record of your growth.
Paper and drawing tools will be provided if you do not have them.
For each subject set a clock for 30 minutes, no more and no less. Draw the subject. If you complete the drawing in less than 30 minutes, draw it again. Repeat as necessary. If you feel that the drawing is not finished after 30 minutes, that's ok. Just leave it in its unfinished state.
Drawing from photographs is not permitted.
Bring all versions of each subject to the next class.
For all future assignments you will be required to share your work with this class. For this exercise, you will have the option of sharing or not sharing.
Find an object that could be held in your hand. The object should be somewhat complex. A set of keys would make a good subject, but a smartphone would not.
The classroom, the hallway, or a room at home are a few of many possibilities.
Any building is fine.
