Description
The purpose of this assignment is to use SketchUp and begin drawing a formal architectural site plan. You will use architectural units (feet and inches), and start by drawing the 2D linework to form the surfaces.
Objectives/Outcomes and Assessment Criteria
Demonstrate an understanding of SketchUp through the generation of an architecturally-related modeling assignment.
Demonstrate craftsmanship as manifest through precision of the drawing.
Document completed assignments in a digital format and archive those digital artifacts in MIro and Google Drive.
General Instructions to begin the model
1. Create a new file using the Architectural Inches Template.
2. Save the file as firstinitiallastname Building.skp
3. Watch the step-by-step tutorial to successfully start, and complete a conceptual mass of your model.
4. You should now have a conceptual mass model of your building based on the AutoCAD drawing file.
5. Watch the step-by-step tutorial to continue modeling your building. You will add interior walls, doors, and windows. You will also add components from the SketchUp Warehouse.
5. You now have an in-progress model. You will continue to add more architectural elements, but you need to demonstrate your progress at this point.
6. Go to File… Export… 2D Graphics…
7. Export the file with the same filename and in the same folder as your SketchUp file.
Make sure to select Save as type: JPEG Image (*.jpg)
8. Upload the SKP (SketchUp Model) and JPG (JPEG Image) files to your Google Drive for evaluation.
9. Upload the JPG file to the Miro board for evaluation.
10. Watch the step-by-step tutorial to continue modeling your building. This tutorial focuses on creating the door and window openings and adding doors and windows in the openings.
11. Watch this step-by-step tutorial to place your building on the site as a component.
12. Watch this step-by-step tutorial to complete your roof and exterior walls. You will also practice navigating inside the building.
13. Make sure you have completed your building. Place it on the site as a component. Update both the building and site as needed.
